About Us

City Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Centre has been providing Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy in the MLC Centre for over 40 years. Our team are expertly trained in providing detailed full-body assessments and delivering personalised treatment for musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries, headaches, jaw, neck and back pain.

Make an appointment

Our standard Physiotherapy appointments are 30 minutes long. This is normally sufficient for assessment and treatment of one area. Should you have multiple areas of concern, or a complex issue, you may book an extended or double session or prioritise the areas. Fees for private patients are due at the time of service. We do have HICAPS available – please bring your private health card with you as we require the magnetic strip to process the rebate!

First Appointment

We pride ourselves on running on time! If you have not attended our practice before we ask that you arrive 5 minutes early to fill out a bunch of boring but important paperwork for us!

The Physiotherapist will then take a detailed history of the injury/ concerns, run through your lifestyle, job, sports/ hobbies and general medical history to form a provisional diagnosis.

They will then perform a detailed examination, explain your diagnosis or contributing factors to you in plain English, treat you using evidenced based techniques (usually involving hands on, exercises and personalised recommendations), and set you up with an action plan.

Please bring with you any relevant scans, x-rays or letters from your doctor/ specialist. We do have shorts at the practice for you to change into if necessary. Please bring your private health insurance card on the day as we require the magnetic strip to process on-the-spot health fund rebates!

Workers Compensation/ Comprehensive Third Party

We are happy to treat patients covered by Third Party insurance. Patients are asked to bring all paperwork, scans and doctors letters to their first appointment. (Please note Nicola Michell does not offer CTP or Workers Compensation appointments but we are happy to accommodate you with one of our other experienced practitioners).

We require a Letter of Liability, insurance company details, claim number and Case Manager details before the appointment by email or fax to verify the claim details on our end. If you do not provide the above, you may be required to pay for your treatment as a private patient.

Cancellation policy

Our Physiotherapists often run back-to-back and have active waiting lists, so should you cancel a session with less than 3 hours notice you will be liable for a $50 cancellation fee. If you miss a session without notice, or cancel within 1 hour of your scheduled appointment start time, you will incur the full fee for that appointment. Repeat offenders may be asked to pre-pay for their appointment.

Giving us as much notice as possible helps us better serve you and our other patients, and allow us to contact someone on our busy waitlist. If you cannot keep your appointment, please call us as soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate and reschedule your appointment.

Additionally, to ensure that you receive a thorough assessment and treatment we ask that you please arrive on time for your appointments. Trying to achieve results in a shortened period of time often places unnecessary stress on our physiotherapists, as such if you are greater than 7 minutes late for your consultation we may ask you to reschedule your appointment. This may be treated as a cancellation or non attendance and you will be billed for the session.

Motor Accident Insurance (CTP) and Workers Compensation Insurance does not cover charges for non-attendance. These charges will need to be met by the client.
